94:1

Hassanor Alapa : Ba Ami rka da kaliwanagi so rarb ka? 2036

Muhsin Khan : Have We not opened your breast for you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))?

Sahih International : Did We not expand for you, [O Muhammad], your breast?

Pickthall : Have We not caused thy bosom to dilate,

Yusuf Ali : Have We not expanded thee thy breast?-

Shakir : Have We not expanded for you your breast,

Dr. Ghali : Have We not expanded your breast for you,

Tafsir Jalalayn : Did We not expand (an interrogative meant as an affirmative, in other words, ‘We did [indeed] expand’) your breast for you, O Muhammad (s), by means of prophethood and otherwise,

Tagalog : Hindi ba Namin binuksan ang iyong kalooban, O Muhammad,

94:2

Hassanor Alapa : Go piokas Ami rka so awid ka a mapnd 2037

Muhsin Khan : And removed from you your burden,

Sahih International : And We removed from you your burden

Pickthall : And eased thee of the burden

Yusuf Ali : And removed from thee thy burden

Shakir : And taken off from you your burden,

Dr. Ghali : And laid aside from you your encumbrance.

Tafsir Jalalayn : and relieve you of your burden,

Tagalog : Sa liwanag ng Islâm pagkatapos ng kasikipan nito,

94:3

Hassanor Alapa : A so iniplalatko o lkod ka (ko kapnd iyan)?

Muhsin Khan : Which weighed down your back?

Sahih International : Which had weighed upon your back

Pickthall : Which weighed down thy back;

Yusuf Ali : The which did gall thy back?-

Shakir : Which pressed heavily upon your back,

Dr. Ghali : Which weighed down your back,

Tafsir Jalalayn : that which weighed down your back? — this is similar to where God says: that God may forgive you what is past of your sin [Q. 48:2].

94:4

Hassanor Alapa : Go iniporo Ami rka so bntogan ka 2038

Muhsin Khan : And raised high your fame?

Sahih International : And raised high for you your repute.

Pickthall : And exalted thy fame?

Yusuf Ali : And raised high the esteem (in which) thou (art held)?

Shakir : And exalted for you your esteem?

Dr. Ghali : And did We not raise for you your remembrance?

Tafsir Jalalayn : Did We not exalt your mention? For you are mentioned where I [God] am mentioned in the call announcing [the time for] prayer (adhān), in the [second] call to perform the prayer (iqāma), in the witnessing [‘there is no god but God, Muhammad is His Messenger’] (tashahhud), in the Friday sermon and in other instances.

94:5

Hassanor Alapa : Na mataan a adn a pd o margn a malbod

Muhsin Khan : So verily, with the hardship, there is relief,

Sahih International : For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.

Pickthall : But lo! with hardship goeth ease,

Yusuf Ali : So, verily, with every difficulty, there is relief:

Shakir : Surely with difficulty is ease.

Dr. Ghali : So surely with difficulty comes ease,

Tafsir Jalalayn : For truly with hardship comes ease.

94:6

Hassanor Alapa : Mataan a adn a a pd o margn a malbod

Muhsin Khan : Verily, with the hardship, there is relief (i.e. there is one hardship with two reliefs, so one hardship cannot overcome two reliefs).

Sahih International : Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.

Pickthall : Lo! with hardship goeth ease;

Yusuf Ali : Verily, with every difficulty there is relief.

Shakir : With difficulty is surely ease.

Dr. Ghali : Surely with difficulty comes ease.

Tafsir Jalalayn : Truly with hardship comes ease: the Prophet (s) suffered much hardship at the hands of the disbelievers, but then he enjoyed ease when he was assisted to victory [by God] over them.

Muhsin Khan : So when you have finished (from your occupation), then stand up for Allah's worship (i.e. stand up for prayer).

Sahih International : So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship].

Pickthall : So when thou art relieved, still toil

Yusuf Ali : Therefore, when thou art free (from thine immediate task), still labour hard,

Shakir : So when you are free, nominate.

Dr. Ghali : So when you are at leisure, (i.e., not o) then labor,

Tafsir Jalalayn : So when you are finished, from [performing] prayer, toil, exert yourself in supplication [to God],

Muhsin Khan : And to your Lord (Alone) turn (all your intentions and hopes and) your invocations.

Sahih International : And to your Lord direct [your] longing.

Pickthall : And strive to please thy Lord.

Yusuf Ali : And to thy Lord turn (all) thy attention.

Shakir : And make your Lord your exclusive object.

Dr. Ghali : And to your Lord then be desirous (i.e., of His Grace).

Tafsir Jalalayn : and seek, devote yourself humbly to, your Lord.
