Yusuf Ali : O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him.

Shakir : O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him.

Sahih International : He will be judged with an easy account

Pickthall : He truly will receive an easy reckoning

Yusuf Ali : Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning,

Shakir : He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning,

Dr. Ghali : Then he will eventually be reckoned an easy reckoning,

Tafsir Jalalayn : he will receive an easy reckoning, which [simply] entails the presentation of his deeds to him, as in the hadīth of the two Sahīhs [of Bukhārī and Muslim] — in which there is also [a hadīth saying], ‘He who is reckoned with at length, will be destined for perdition’ — and after this presentation [of his deeds to the believer] he will be excused,

Muhsin Khan : But whosoever is given his Record behind his back,

Sahih International : But as for he who is given his record behind his back,

Pickthall : But whoso is given his account behind his back,

Yusuf Ali : But he who is given his Record behind his back,-

Shakir : And as to him who is given his book behind his back,

Dr. Ghali : And as for him who is brought his Book beyond his back,

Tafsir Jalalayn : But as for him who is given his book from behind his back — and this is the disbeliever, whose right hand is chained to his neck and whose left hand, by which he is given the book, is placed behind his back,

084.11

Hassanor Alapa : Na tankd a phakakorisk sa kaantior

Muhsin Khan : He will invoke (his) destruction,

Sahih International : He will cry out for destruction

Pickthall : He surely will invoke destruction

Yusuf Ali : Soon will he cry for perdition,

Shakir : He shall call for perdition,

Dr. Ghali : Then he will call for detriment,

Tafsir Jalalayn : he will pray, upon seeing what is in it, for annihilation, he will invoke destruction against himself by saying: yā thabūrāh, ‘O annihilation [of mine]!’,

Yusuf Ali : And he will enter a Blazing Fire.

Shakir : And enter into burning fire.

Tafsir Jalalayn : and he will enter the Blaze, an intense fire (a variant reading [for yaslā, ‘he will enter’] has yusallā, ‘he will be admitted’).

084.13

Muhsin Khan : Verily, he was among his people in joy!

Sahih International : Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness;

Pickthall : He verily lived joyous with his folk,

Yusuf Ali : Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing!

Shakir : Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers.

Dr. Ghali : Surely he (once lived) among his family, pleasured;

Tafsir Jalalayn : Indeed among his folk, his clan, in the world, he used to be joyful, wanton, lusting after his desires;

084.14

Hassanor Alapa : Go tiankd iyan a di dn khaoyag pharoman

Muhsin Khan : Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)!

Yusuf Ali : Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)!

Shakir : Surely he thought that he would never return.

Dr. Ghali : Surely he surmised he would never recede (Or: return).

Tafsir Jalalayn : indeed he thought that (an: softened in place of the hardened form, with its subject omitted, that is to say, annahu) he would never return, to his Lord.

084.15

Hassanor Alapa :

Muhsin Khan : Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him!

Sahih International : But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing.

Pickthall : Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him!

Yusuf Ali : Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him!

Shakir : Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him.

Dr. Ghali : Yes indeed, his Lord has been Ever-Beholding (of) him.

Tafsir Jalalayn : Nay!, he will return to Him; indeed his Lord is ever Seer of him, knowing that he would return to Him.

084.16

Hassanor Alapa : zapa ako ko pamorawag 1969

Muhsin Khan : So I swear by the afterglow of sunset;

Sahih International : So I swear by the twilight glow

Pickthall : Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset,

Yusuf Ali : So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset;

Shakir : But nay! I swear by the sunset redness,

Dr. Ghali : Yet no! I swear by the twilight,

Tafsir Jalalayn : So I swear (fa-lā: lā is extra) by the twilight (al-shafaq), the reddishness visible in the horizon after the sunset,

084.17

Hassanor Alapa : Go so kagagawii ago so tinimo iyan

Muhsin Khan : And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness;

Sahih International : And [by] the night and what it envelops

Pickthall : And by the night and all that it enshroudeth,

Yusuf Ali : The Night and its Homing;

Shakir : And the night and that which it drives on,

Dr. Ghali : And the night and whatever load it has,

Tafsir Jalalayn : and [by] the night and what it envelops, [what] it brings together of creatures and otherwise that have entered into it,

084.18

Hassanor Alapa : Go so olan igira mimbiring

Muhsin Khan : And by the moon when it is at the full,

Sahih International : And [by] the moon when it becomes full

Pickthall : And by the moon when she is at the full,

Yusuf Ali : And the Moon in her fullness:

Shakir : And the moon when it grows full,

Dr. Ghali : And the moon when it grows full-

Tafsir Jalalayn : and [by] the moon when it is at the full, and its light is complete, and this happens during the nights of the full moon,

084.19

Hassanor Alapa : Ka khaadn kano sa btad sa oriyan sa isa a btad

Muhsin Khan : You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter).

Sahih International : [That] you will surely experience state after state.

Pickthall : That ye shall journey on from plane to plane.

Yusuf Ali : Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage.

Shakir : That you shall most certainly enter one state after another.

Dr. Ghali : Indeed you will definitely ride state after state (i.e., travel from one stage "of life" to another).

Tafsir Jalalayn : you will surely journey (tarkabunna is actually tarkabūnanna, but the nūn of the indicative has been omitted because of two identical letters following one another, and the wāw [is omitted] because of two unvocalised consonants coming together), from stage to stage, state after state, namely, death, then life, then what comes afterwards of the states at the Resurrection.

084.20

Hassanor Alapa : Na antonaa siran a di siran pharatiaya

Muhsin Khan : What is the matter with them, that they believe not?

Sahih International : So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe,

Pickthall : What aileth them, then, that they believe not

Yusuf Ali : What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?-

Shakir : But what is the matter with them that they do not believe,

Dr. Ghali : For what reason then do they not believe?

Tafsir Jalalayn : So what is wrong with them, that is, the disbelievers, that they do not have faith, that is to say, what is there to prevent them from [embracing] faith; or what argument do they have for neglecting it despite the existence of proofs for it,

084.21

Hassanor Alapa : Go igira biatiya kiran so Qur’an na di siran sojud

Muhsin Khan : And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate,

Sahih International : And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah ]?

Pickthall : And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)?

Yusuf Ali : And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate,

Shakir : And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance?

Dr. Ghali : And when the Qur'an is read to them, they do not prostrate themselves?*

Tafsir Jalalayn : and, what is wrong with them, that when the Qur’ān is recited to them they do not prostrate?, they [do not] submit by believing in it, given its inimitability?

084.22

Hassanor Alapa : Ogaid na so siran oto a manga kafir na gii ran pakambokhagn (so Qur’ān )

Muhsin Khan : Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.).

Sahih International : But those who have disbelieved deny,

Pickthall : Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny;

Yusuf Ali : But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it).

Shakir : Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth.

Dr. Ghali : No indeed, (but) the ones who have disbelieved are crying lies,

Tafsir Jalalayn : Nay, but the disbelievers deny, resurrection and other matters,

084.23

Hassanor Alapa : So Allāh i lbi a matao ko nganin a isosoln iran ko manga rarb

Muhsin Khan : And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds),

Sahih International : And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves.

Pickthall : And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding.

Yusuf Ali : But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts)

Shakir : And Allah knows best what they hide,

Dr. Ghali : And Allah knows best whatever they heedfully harbor (in their breasts).

Tafsir Jalalayn : and God knows best what they are amassing, accumulating in their scrolls, in the way of disbelief, denial and evil deeds.

084.24

Hassanor Alapa : Na panothol inka siran sa siksa a masakit 1970

Muhsin Khan : So announce to them a painful torment.

Sahih International : So give them tidings of a painful punishment,

Pickthall : So give them tidings of a painful doom,

Yusuf Ali : So announce to them a Penalty Grievous,

Shakir : So announce to them a painful punishment~

Dr. Ghali : So give them tidings of a painful torment,

Tafsir Jalalayn : So give them good tidings, inform them, of a painful chastisement,

084.25

Hassanor Alapa : Inonta bo so siran oto a miamaratiaya ago 1971 minggalbk sa manga pipiya ka adn a bagian iran a balas a di khapinda.

Muhsin Khan : Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise).

Sahih International : Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted.

Pickthall : Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing.

Yusuf Ali : Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail.

Shakir : Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off.

Dr. Ghali : Except the ones who have believed and done deeds of righteousness- they will have a reward bountifully unfailing.

Tafsir Jalalayn : except those who believe and perform righteous deeds: theirs will be an unfailing reward, one that is unending, undiminished and not given to them in expectance of anything in return.
