69:1

Hassanor Alapa : So phanankd (a mbnarn iyan so langowan a nganin 1827 a sianka iran)

Muhsin Khan : The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)!

Sahih International : The Inevitable Reality -

Pickthall : The Reality!

Yusuf Ali : The Sure Reality!

Shakir : The sure calamity!

Dr. Ghali : The Inevitable Truth!

Tafsir Jalalayn : The Reality, the Resurrection in which is realised [the truth of] all that was rejected in the way of the raising [from the graves], the reckoning and the requital, or [it means the Resurrection] which will manifest all of that.

69:2

Hassanor Alapa : Antonaa so phanankd

Muhsin Khan : What is the Reality?

Sahih International : What is the Inevitable Reality?

Pickthall : What is the Reality?

Yusuf Ali : What is the Sure Reality?

Shakir : What is the sure calamity!

Dr. Ghali : What is the Inevitable Truth?

Tafsir Jalalayn : What is the Reality? (ma’l-hāqqa: [an interrogative] to emphasise its enormity; this is the subject as well as the predicate of [the previous] al-hāqqa, ‘the Reality’).

69:3

Hassanor Alapa : Go antai miakatokaw rka o antonaa so phanankd?

Muhsin Khan : And what will make you know what the Reality is?

Sahih International : And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality?

Pickthall : Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is!

Yusuf Ali : And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is?

Shakir : And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is!

Dr. Ghali : And what makes you realize what the Inevitable Truth is!

Tafsir Jalalayn : And how would you know what the Reality is? ([repeated as] an extra emphasis of its enormity; the first mā [of the previous verse] is the subject, the second one, its predicate; the second mā and its predicate also function as the second direct object of [the verb] ‘knowing’).

69:4

Hassanor Alapa : Piakambokhag o Thamūd 1828 ago so Ad so maori a alongan a bithowan sa al Qāri’ah

Muhsin Khan : Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]!

Sahih International : Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity.

Pickthall : (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come.

Yusuf Ali : The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity!

Shakir : Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie.

Dr. Ghali : Thamud and c?d cried lies to the Smiter.

Tafsir Jalalayn : Thamūd and ‘Ād denied the Clatterer, the Resurrection, because its terrors cause the hearts to clatter.

Muhsin Khan : As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry!

Sahih International : So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast].

Pickthall : As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning.

Yusuf Ali : But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning!

Shakir : Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment.

Dr. Ghali : So, as for Tham?d, they were made to perish by the inordinate (storm);

Tafsir Jalalayn : As for Thamūd, they were destroyed by the [overwhelming] Roar, an excessively severe cry.

69:6

Hassanor Alapa : Na so pman so Ād na inantior siran sa minggolalan sa sobosobo a mabagr

Muhsin Khan : And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind;

Sahih International : And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind

Pickthall : And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind,

Yusuf Ali : And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent;

Shakir : And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast.

Dr. Ghali : And as for c?d, they were then made to perish by a wind most clamorous (and) furious (Literally: rebellious).

Tafsir Jalalayn : And as for ‘Ād, they were destroyed by a deafening, intensely clamorous, violent wind, [that was] powerful and severe [in its assault] upon ‘Ād, despite their power and might.

69:7

Hassanor Alapa : Tiatap Iyan kiran sa pito a manga kagagawii ago walo a manga dawndaw a mizonosono kiran (ankoto a siksa) sa khailay nka on so pagtaw a mapopolang a datar siran o manga kayo a korma a malalati

Muhsin Khan : Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms!

Sahih International : Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.

Pickthall : Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees.

Yusuf Ali : He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down!

Shakir : Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms.

Dr. Ghali : He subjected it against them seven nights and eight days in gruesome succession, so that you might have seen the people laid overthrown in it as if they were the hollow stumps of devastated palm- trees.

Tafsir Jalalayn : He forced it upon them for seven nights and eight days, the first of which was the morning of Wednesday, eight days before the end of [the month of] Shawwāl, and this was at the height of winter, successively, one after the next (husūman: it [the action of the wind] is likened to the repeated actions of a hāsim, ‘one cauterizing a wound’, time and again until it [the blood] has been cut off, inhsama) so that you might have seen the people therein lying prostrate, lying dead on the ground, as if they were the hollow, collapsed, trunks of palm-trees.

69:8

Hassanor Alapa : Na ba adn a miailay nka kiran a pd sa mialamba

Muhsin Khan : Do you see any remnants of them?

Sahih International : Then do you see of them any remains?

Pickthall : Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them?

Yusuf Ali : Then seest thou any of them left surviving?

Shakir : Do you then see of them one remaining?

Dr. Ghali : So do you see any remnant of them?

Tafsir Jalalayn : So do you see any remnant of them? (min bāqiyatin: this is either the adjectival qualification of an implicit nafs, ‘soul’, or the [final suffixed] tā’ is for hyperbole, in other words [understand it as fa-hal tarā lahum] min bāqin, ‘any one remaining?’ No!).

69:9

Hassanor Alapa : Go minioma o Fir’aun ago so miaonaan iyan ago so 1829 pagtaw o Lūt so dosa a mala

Dr. Ghali : And Firaawn (Pharaoh) came, (i.e., after Thamud and Aad) and whoever were before him and the (cities of) falsehood, (i.e., the people of Lut "Lot") with their (habitual) sinfulness.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And Pharaoh and those of his followers (man qibalahu: a variant reading has man qablahu, that is to say, those disbelieving communities who came before him) and the Deviant [cities], that is, their inhabitants — these being the cities of the people of Lot — brought iniquity, [they committed] deeds that were iniquitous.

Pickthall : And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip.

Yusuf Ali : And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty.

Shakir : And they disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment.

Dr. Ghali : Then they disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord, so He took them (away) with a surpassing grip (Literally: swelling taking).

Tafsir Jalalayn : Then they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, namely, Lot and others, so He seized them with a devastating blow, one surpassing others in its severity.

Shakir : Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high,

Dr. Ghali : Surely, as soon as the water (s) overflowed, (Literally: was inordinate) We carried you in the running ship.

Tafsir Jalalayn : Truly when the waters rose high, [when] they rose above all things including mountains and otherwise at the time of the Flood, We carried you, meaning, your forefathers, you being in their loins, in the sailing vessel, the ark which Noah built and by which he and those with him were saved while all the others drowned,

Tafsir Jalalayn : so that We might make it, namely, this act, the saving of the believers and the destruction of the disbelievers, a reminder, a lesson, for you and that receptive ears, [ears] which remember what they hear, might remember it.

Tafsir Jalalayn : O would that it, namely, death in [the life of] this world, had been the [final] end, that had terminated my life, so that I am not resurrected.

69:28

Hassanor Alapa : Da rakn makanggay a gona so tamok akn

Pickthall : My wealth hath not availed me,

Yusuf Ali : "Of no profit to me has been my wealth!

Shakir : My wealth has availed me nothing:

Dr. Ghali : In no way has my wealth availed me;

Tafsir Jalalayn : My wealth has not availed me.

69:29

Hassanor Alapa : Miailang rakn so kadato akn

Muhsin Khan : "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!"

Sahih International : Gone from me is my authority."

Pickthall : My power hath gone from me.

Yusuf Ali : "My power has perished from me!"...

Shakir : My authority is gone away from me.

Dr. Ghali : My (own) all-binding authority has perished away from me."

Tafsir Jalalayn : My authority, my strength, my argument, has gone from me’ (the [final] hā’ in kitābiyah, ‘my book’, hisābiyah, ‘my account’, and sultāniyah, ‘my authority’, is for [consonantal] quiescence; and it is retained [when reciting] with a pause as well as without a pause, in accordance with the authoritative [version of the] Qur’ānic text and the transmitted reports; some elide it when reciting without a pause).

69:30

Hassanor Alapa : (na matharo a) kowaa niyo skaniyan na patonga niyo

Shakir : Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him,

Dr. Ghali : "Take him, and shackle him up,

Tafsir Jalalayn : ‘Seize him — addressing the keepers of Hell — then fetter him, bind his hands to his necks in fetters,

Muhsin Khan : Then throw him in the blazing Fire.

Sahih International : Then into Hellfire drive him.

Pickthall : And then expose him to hell-fire

Yusuf Ali : "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire.

Shakir : Then cast him into the burning fire,

Dr. Ghali : Thereafter roast him in Hell-Fire;

Tafsir Jalalayn : then admit him into Hell-fire, into the scorching Fire,

Muhsin Khan : "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!"

Sahih International : Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him."

Pickthall : And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits.

Yusuf Ali : "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits!

Shakir : Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits.

Dr. Ghali : Thereafter in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him!

Tafsir Jalalayn : then in a chain whose length is seventy cubits — [each cubit being] that of an angel’s forearm — insert him, after admitting him into the Fire (the fā’ [of fa’slukūhu] does not prevent the verb from being semantically connected to the preceding adverbial clause).

69:33

Hassanor Alapa : Ka mataan a skaniyan na di niyan pharatiayaan so Allāh a Lbi a Mala

Muhsin Khan : Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great,

Sahih International : Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allah , the Most Great,

Pickthall : Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous,

Yusuf Ali : "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High.

Shakir : Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great,

Dr. Ghali : Surely he used not to believe in Allah The Ever-Magnificent;

Tafsir Jalalayn : Lo! he never believed in God the Tremendous,

69:34

Shakir : Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor.

Dr. Ghali : And he did not urge (offering) food to the indigent.

Tafsir Jalalayn : and never urged the feeding of the needy;

Dr. Ghali : So today he has not here now (any) intimate (friend),

Tafsir Jalalayn : therefore here today he has no [loyal] friend, [no] relative to avail him,

Pickthall : But nay! I swear by all that ye see

Yusuf Ali : So I do call to witness what ye see,

Shakir : But nay! I swear by that which you see,

Dr. Ghali : Yet no, I swear by whatever you behold,

Tafsir Jalalayn : So indeed (fa-lā: lā is extra) I swear by all that you see, of creatures,

69:39

Hassanor Alapa : Go so nganin a di niyo khailay

Muhsin Khan : And by whatsoever you see not,

Sahih International : And what you do not see

Pickthall : And all that ye see not

Yusuf Ali : And what ye see not,

Shakir : And that which you do not see.

Dr. Ghali : And whatever you do not behold,

Tafsir Jalalayn : and all that you do not see: of them, in other words, [I swear] by all creatures:

Tagalog : At sa pamamagitan ng anumang bagay na hindi ninyo nakikita,

Sahih International : [That] indeed, the Qur'an is the word of a noble Messenger.

Pickthall : That it is indeed the speech of an illustrious messenger.

Yusuf Ali : That this is verily the word of an honoured messenger;

Shakir : Most surely, it is the Word brought by an honored Messenger,

Dr. Ghali : Surely it is indeed the saying of an honorable Messenger.

Tafsir Jalalayn : it, that is to say, the Qur’ān, is indeed the speech of a noble messenger, in other words, he has spoken it as a message from God, exalted be He.

69:41

Yusuf Ali : It is not the word of a poet: little it is ye believe!

Shakir : And it is not the word of a poet; little is it that you believe;

Dr. Ghali : And in no way is it the saying of a poet- little do you believe-

Tafsir Jalalayn : And it is not the speech of a poet. Little do you believe!

69:42

Hassanor Alapa : Go di pn katharo a pndarpaan a maito a kapkhatadmi niyo ron

Muhsin Khan : Nor is it the word of a soothsayer (or a foreteller), little is that you remember!

Sahih International : Nor the word of a soothsayer; little do you remember.

Pickthall : Nor diviner's speech - little is it that ye remember!

Yusuf Ali : Nor is it the word of a soothsayer: little admonition it is ye receive.

Shakir : Nor the word of a soothsayer; little is it that you mind.

Dr. Ghali : Nor the saying of a soothsayer- little are you mindful of!

Tafsir Jalalayn : Nor [is it] the speech of a soothsayer. Little do you remember! (read both verbs either in the second person plural or in the third person plural; the mā [preceding both verbs] is extra, intended for emphasis). The meaning is: they believed and remembered only very few things of what the Prophet (s) did, [things] such as [his] good acts, [his] kindness to kin and abstinence; yet this will be of no avail to them.

69:43

Muhsin Khan : This is the Revelation sent down from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists).

Sahih International : [It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

Pickthall : It is a revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.

Yusuf Ali : (This is) a Message sent down from the Lord of the Worlds.

Shakir : It is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

Dr. Ghali : A successive sending down from The Lord of the worlds.

Tafsir Jalalayn : Rather, it is, a revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.

69:44

Hassanor Alapa : Opama ka mianaro Rkami 1836 sa sabaad a manga katharo (a piangantang iyan)

Muhsin Khan : And if he (Muhammad SAW) had forged a false saying concerning Us (Allah),

Sahih International : And if Muhammad had made up about Us some [false] sayings,

Pickthall : And if he had invented false sayings concerning Us,

Yusuf Ali : And if the messenger were to invent any sayings in Our name,

Shakir : And if he had fabricated against Us some of the sayings,

Dr. Ghali : And if he had talked up against Us any (Literally: some) (false) sayings.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And had he, namely, the Prophet (s), fabricated any lies against Us, by communicating from Us that which We have not said,

69:45

Hassanor Alapa : Na disomala a singgawtn Ami skaniyan sa mabagr (a siksa)

Muhsin Khan : We surely should have seized him by his right hand (or with power and might),

Sahih International : We would have seized him by the right hand;

Pickthall : We assuredly had taken him by the right hand

Yusuf Ali : We should certainly seize him by his right hand,

Shakir : We would certainly have seized him by the right hand,

Dr. Ghali : Indeed We would have taken (him) by the right hand;

Tafsir Jalalayn : We would have assuredly seized him, We would have exacted vengeance [against him], as punishment, by the Right Hand, by [Our] strength and power;

69:46

Hassanor Alapa : Oriyan iyan na tphdn Ami ron so ogat iyan a al Watīn 1837

Muhsin Khan : And then certainly should have cut off his life artery (Aorta),

Sahih International : Then We would have cut from him the aorta.

Pickthall : And then severed his life-artery,

Yusuf Ali : And We should certainly then cut off the artery of his heart:

Shakir : Then We would certainly have cut off his aorta.

Dr. Ghali : Thereafter indeed We would have cut (off) (his) aorta.

Tafsir Jalalayn : then We would have assuredly severed his life-artery, the aorta of the heart, a vein that connects with it, and which if severed results in that person’s death,

69:47

Hassanor Alapa : Na da a pd rkano a isa bo a ba niyan marnding (ko kakhasogat iyan a siksa)

Muhsin Khan : And none of you could withhold Us from (punishing) him.

Sahih International : And there is no one of you who could prevent [Us] from him.

Pickthall : And not one of you could have held Us off from him.

Yusuf Ali : Nor could any of you withhold him (from Our wrath).

Shakir : And not one of you could have withheld Us from him.

Dr. Ghali : Then in no way would anyone of you (be) debarring (Us) from him.

Tafsir Jalalayn : and not one of you (ahadin is the subject of mā, min being extra, used to emphasise the negation; minkum is a circumstantial qualifier referring to ahadin) could have defended him (hājizīna is the predicate of [the preceding] mā, and it is used in the plural because ahad, when employed in a negatory context, denotes a plural sense; the [suffixed] pronoun in ‘anhu refers to the Prophet), in other words, there is none to prevent Us from punishing him.

69:48

Hassanor Alapa : Go mataan a skaniyan na pananadm ko miangaalk ko Allāh

Muhsin Khan : And verily, this Quran is a Reminder for the Muttaqun (pious - see V.2:2).

Sahih International : And indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder for the righteous.

Pickthall : And lo! it is a warrant unto those who ward off (evil).

Yusuf Ali : But verily this is a Message for the Allah-fearing.

Shakir : And most surely it is a reminder for those who guard (against evil).

Dr. Ghali : And surely it is indeed a Reminder to the pious.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And assuredly it, that is, the Qur’ān, is a reminder for the God-fearing.

69:49

Hassanor Alapa : Go mataan a katawan Ami a adn a pd rkano a manga taw a pakapmbokhagn iran (so Qur’ān) (50) Go mataan a skaniyan na kalapis sii ko manga kafir

Muhsin Khan : And verily, We know that there are some among you that belie (this Quran). [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 29, Page 68]

Sahih International : And indeed, We know that among you are deniers.

Pickthall : And lo! We know that some among you will deny (it).

Yusuf Ali : And We certainly know that there are amongst you those that reject (it).

Shakir : And most surely We know that some of you are rejecters.

Dr. Ghali : And surely We indeed know that (some) among you are beliers.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And assuredly We know that some of you, O people, are deniers, of the Qur’ān, and [some of you are] believers [in it].

69:50

Hassanor Alapa : Go mataan a skaniyan na kalapis sii ko manga kafir

Muhsin Khan : And indeed it (this Quran) will be an anguish for the disbelievers (on the Day of Resurrection).

Sahih International : And indeed, it will be [a cause of] regret upon the disbelievers.

Pickthall : And lo! it is indeed an anguish for the disbelievers.

Yusuf Ali : But truly (Revelation) is a cause of sorrow for the Unbelievers.

Shakir : And most surely it is a great grief to the unbelievers.

Dr. Ghali : And surely it is indeed a (source of) regret to the disbelievers.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And assuredly it, that is, the Qur’ān, is a [cause of] anguish for the disbelievers, when they see the reward of those who affirmed its truth and the punishment of those who denied it.

69:51

Hassanor Alapa : Go mataan a skaniyan so bnar a matatankd

Muhsin Khan : And Verily, it (this Quran) is an absolute truth with certainty.

Sahih International : And indeed, it is the truth of certainty.

Pickthall : And lo! it is absolute truth.

Yusuf Ali : But verily it is Truth of assured certainty.

Shakir : And most surely it is the true certainty

Dr. Ghali : And surely it is indeed the Truth of certitude.

Tafsir Jalalayn : And assuredly it, that is, the Qur’ān, is the certain truth.

69:52

Hassanor Alapa : Na tasbihn ka (hay Mohammad) so ingaran o Kadnan ka a lbi a Mala.

Muhsin Khan : So glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most Great.

Sahih International : So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

Pickthall : So glorify the name of thy Tremendous Lord.

Yusuf Ali : So glorify the name of thy Lord Most High.

Shakir : Therefore-glorify the name of your Lord, the Great.

Dr. Ghali : So extol with the Name of your Lord, The Ever-Magnificent.

Tafsir Jalalayn : So glorify, exalt as transcendent, the Name (bi’smi: the bā’ [bi-] is extra) of your Lord, the Tremendous: glory be to Him.
