44:1

Hassanor Alapa : Hā, Mīm, 1462

Muhsin Khan : Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].

Sahih International : Ha, Meem.

Pickthall : Ha. Mim.

Yusuf Ali : Ha-Mim.

Shakir : Ha Mim!

Dr. Ghali : Ha, Mim (These are the names of letters of the Arabic alphabet, and only Allah knows their meaning here).

Tafsir Jalalayn : Hā mīm: God knows best what He means by these [letters].

Tagalog : Hâ-Mim.

44:2

Hassanor Alapa : Ibt ko kitāb a phrinayag

Muhsin Khan : By the manifest Book (this Quran) that makes things clear,

Sahih International : By the clear Book,

Pickthall : By the Scripture that maketh plain

Yusuf Ali : By the Book that makes things clear;-

Shakir : I swear by the Book that makes manifest (the truth).

Dr. Ghali : And (by) the evident Book.

Tafsir Jalalayn : By the Book, the Qur’ān, that clarifies, the one that distinguishes what is lawful from what is unlawful.

44:3

Hassanor Alapa : Mataan a initoron Ami skaniyan (a Qur’ān) sa kagagawii a pakambabarakatn 1463 mataan a miaadn Kami a phangangalk (ko siksa)

Muhsin Khan : We sent it (this Quran) down on a blessed night [(i.e. night of Qadr, Surah No: 97) in the month of Ramadan,, the 9th month of the Islamic calendar]. Verily, We are ever warning [mankind that Our Torment will reach those who disbelieve in Our Oneness of Lordship and in Our Oneness of worship].

Sahih International : Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind].

Pickthall : Lo! We revealed it on a blessed night - Lo! We are ever warning -

Yusuf Ali : We sent it down during a Blessed Night: for We (ever) wish to warn (against Evil).

Shakir : Surely We revealed it on a blessed night surely We are ever warning--

Dr. Ghali : Surely We have sent it down in a blessed night; surely We have been warning.

Tafsir Jalalayn : Indeed We revealed it on a blessed night, the Night of Ordainment (laylat al-qadr), or the eve of the middle of Sha‘bān, in which it was revealed from the Mother Book, from the seventh heaven to the heaven of this world. Indeed We have been warning, We have been causing [people] by it to have fear [of God].

44:4

Hassanor Alapa : Sii ko sold iyan (ankoto a kagagawii) na 1464 pnggintasn a langowan a sogoan a magigikb a ongangn

Muhsin Khan : Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments.

Sahih International : On that night is made distinct every precise matter -

Pickthall : Whereon every wise command is made clear

Yusuf Ali : In the (Night) is made distinct every affair of wisdom,

Shakir : Therein every wise affair is made distinct,

Dr. Ghali : Therein every Wise Command is distinctly (decreed),

Tafsir Jalalayn : In it, that is to say, on the Night of Ordainment, or on the eve of the middle of Sha‘bān, every definitive matter, that has been fixed, with regard to the provisions and the terms of life and other things [decreed by God] for the entire year until that same night again [the following year], is distinguished, is decided.

44:5

Hassanor Alapa : Sogoan a phoon Rkami 1465 mataan a miaadn Kami a pphamanogo sa manga sogo’

Muhsin Khan : Amran (i.e. a Command or this Quran or the Decree of every matter) from Us. Verily, We are ever sending (the Messengers),

Sahih International : [Every] matter [proceeding] from Us. Indeed, We were to send [a messenger]

Pickthall : As a command from Our presence - Lo! We are ever sending -

Yusuf Ali : By command, from Our Presence. For We (ever) send (revelations),

Shakir : A command from Us; surely We are the senders (of messengers),

Dr. Ghali : (As) a Command from Our providence; surely We have (ever) been sending (Messengers).

Tafsir Jalalayn : As an ordinance, a distinguishing, from Us. Indeed We have been sending from your Lord, messengers, [such as] Muhammad (s) and those before him,

Tagalog : Itong matatag na bagay na ito ay mula sa Amin, na kung kaya, ang lahat ng nangyayari na itinatakda ng Allâh at Kanyang ipinapahayag ay dahil sa Kanyang kagustuhan, pagpapahintulot at kaalaman. Katiyakan, Kami ay nagpadala sa mga tao ng mga Sugo na si Muhammad at ang mga nauna pa kaysa sa kanya;

44:6

Hassanor Alapa : Limo a phoon ko Kadnan ka mataan a Skaniyan so Pphakan’g a Matao

Muhsin Khan : (As) a Mercy from your Lord. Verily! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.

Sahih International : As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

Pickthall : A mercy from thy Lord. Lo! He, even He is the Hearer, the Knower,

Yusuf Ali : As Mercy from thy Lord: for He hears and knows (all things);

Shakir : A mercy from your Lord, surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing,

Dr. Ghali : As a mercy from your Lord; surely He, Ever He, is The Ever-Hearing, The Ever-Knowing.

Tafsir Jalalayn : as a mercy, out of compassion for those to whom these [messengers] have been sent. Surely He is the Hearer, of their sayings, the Knower, of their actions.

44:7

Hassanor Alapa : Kadnan o manga langit ago so lopa ago so pagltan ankoto a dowa, amay ka 1466 miaadn kano a tomatankd.

Muhsin Khan : The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you (but) have a faith with certainty.

Sahih International : Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them, if you would be certain.

Pickthall : Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye would be sure.

Yusuf Ali : The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, if ye (but) have an assured faith.

Shakir : The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure.

Dr. Ghali : The Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them both, in case you are (believers) with certitude.

Tafsir Jalalayn : Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them (read rabbu’l-samāwāti, in the nominative [to understand it] as a third predicate; or read rabbi’l-samāwāti as a substitution for rabbika, ‘your Lord’), if you should be certain, O people of Mecca, that God, exalted be He, is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, then also be certain that Muhammad (s) is His Messenger.

44:8

Hassanor Alapa : Da a Tuhan a rowar Rkaniyan a pphangoyag ago pmbgay sa kapatay, a Kadnan iyo ago Kadnan o manga apo iyo a miangaoona

Muhsin Khan : La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). It is He Who gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your fore-fathers.

Sahih International : There is no deity except Him; He gives life and causes death. [He is] your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers.

Pickthall : There is no Allah save Him. He quickeneth and giveth death; your Lord and Lord of your forefathers.

Yusuf Ali : There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors.

Shakir : There is no god but He; He gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of yore.

Dr. Ghali : There is no god except He; He gives life and He makes to die; (He is) your Lord and The Lord of your earliest fathers.

Tafsir Jalalayn : There is no god except Him. He gives life and brings death. Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers.

Muhsin Khan : Nay! They play in doubt.

Sahih International : But they are in doubt, amusing themselves.

Pickthall : Nay, but they play in doubt.

Yusuf Ali : Yet they play about in doubt.

Shakir : Nay, they are in doubt, they sport.

Dr. Ghali : No indeed, (but) they are in doubt, playing.

Tafsir Jalalayn : Nay, but they linger in doubt, concerning the Resurrection, playing, in mockery of you, O Muhammad (s), and so he said, ‘My God, assist me against them with seven [years of drought] like the seven of Joseph’.

44:10

Hassanor Alapa : Pagzid ka sa gawii a adn a khioma o langit a bl a mapayag 1467

Muhsin Khan : Then wait you for the Day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke.

Sahih International : Then watch for the Day when the sky will bring a visible smoke.

Pickthall : But watch thou (O Muhammad) for the day when the sky will produce visible smoke

Yusuf Ali : Then watch thou for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or mist) plainly visible,

Shakir : Therefore keep waiting for the day when the heaven shall bring an evident smoke,

Dr. Ghali : So be on the watch for a Day when the heaven will come up with an evident smoke,

Tafsir Jalalayn : God, exalted be He, says: So watch out for the day when the heaven will produce a visible smoke. Thus the earth became barren and famine became so severe that they began to see what looked like smoke rising between the heaven and the earth,

44:11

Hassanor Alapa : A kholambowan iyan so manga taw a gianan so siksa a masakit

Muhsin Khan : Covering the people, this is a painful torment.

Sahih International : Covering the people; this is a painful torment.

Pickthall : That will envelop the people. This will be a painful torment.

Yusuf Ali : Enveloping the people: this will be a Penalty Grievous.

Shakir : That shall overtake men; this is a painful punishment.

Dr. Ghali : That will envelop mankind; this is a painful torment.

Tafsir Jalalayn : that will envelop the people, and so they said: ‘This is a painful chastisement!

44:12

Hassanor Alapa : Kadnan ami sawa Inka rkami so siksa ka miaratiaya kami dn

Muhsin Khan : (They will say): "Our Lord! Remove the torment from us, really we shall become believers!"

Sahih International : [They will say], "Our Lord, remove from us the torment; indeed, we are believers."

Pickthall : (Then they will say): Our Lord relieve us of the torment. Lo! we are believers.

Yusuf Ali : (They will say:) "Our Lord! remove the Penalty from us, for we do really believe!"

Shakir : Our Lord! remove from us the punishment; surely we are believers.

Dr. Ghali : "Our Lord, lift off from us the torment; surely, we are believers."

Tafsir Jalalayn : Our Lord, relieve us from the chastisement; indeed we have believed’, we have [now] affirmed the sincerity of Your Prophet.

44:13

Hassanor Alapa : Andamanaya dn i kaphananadm iran a sabnar a miaoma siran a sogo’ a phrinayag

Muhsin Khan : How can there be for them an admonition (at the time when the torment has reached them), when a Messenger explaining things clearly has already come to them.

Sahih International : How will there be for them a reminder [at that time]? And there had come to them a clear Messenger.

Pickthall : How can there be remembrance for them, when a messenger making plain (the Truth) had already come unto them,

Yusuf Ali : How shall the message be (effectual) for them, seeing that an Messenger explaining things clearly has (already) come to them,-

Shakir : How shall they be reminded, and there came to them an Messenger making clear (the truth),

Dr. Ghali : However could they have the Reminding, and an evident Messenger has already come to them,

Tafsir Jalalayn : God, exalted be He, says: How can there be a reminder for them, that is to say, faith will not benefit them once the chastisement has been sent down, when already there has come to them a manifest Messenger, whose Message is plain [to understand],

44:14

Hassanor Alapa : Oriyan iyan na tialikhodan iran skaniyan sa pitharo iran a piangndao skaniyan a bbthangn

Muhsin Khan : Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!"

Sahih International : Then they turned away from him and said, "[He was] taught [and is] a madman."

Pickthall : And they had turned away from him and said: One taught (by others), a madman?

Yusuf Ali : Yet they turn away from him and say: "Tutored (by others), a man possessed!"

Shakir : Yet they turned their backs on him and said: One taught (by others), a madman.

Dr. Ghali : (Yet) thereafter they turned away from him and said, "A man taught (by others), a madman!"

Tafsir Jalalayn : but they turned away from him and said, ‘He has been taught — that is, a human being is teaching him the Qur’ān — [he is] a madman!’

44:15

Hassanor Alapa : Mataan a Skami na ikhayas Ami so siksa sa di bo tanto khalanggay, sa mataan a skano na pmbabalingan kano (ko olawla marata) 1468

Muhsin Khan : Verily, We shall remove the torment for a while. Verily! You will revert.

Sahih International : Indeed, We will remove the torment for a little. Indeed, you [disbelievers] will return [to disbelief].

Pickthall : Lo! We withdraw the torment a little. Lo! ye return (to disbelief).

Yusuf Ali : We shall indeed remove the Penalty for a while, (but) truly ye will revert (to your ways).

Shakir : Surely We will remove the punishment a little, (but) you will surely return (to evil).

Dr. Ghali : Surely We are lifting off the torment a little; surely you will be going back (to disbelief).

Tafsir Jalalayn : ‘Indeed We will remove the chastisement, the famine from you [for], a little, time; and so it was removed from them. [But] you will indeed revert!’, to your disbelief — and they did.

44:16

Hassanor Alapa : Sa sagawii a isiksa Ami so siksa a lbi a mala, mataan a Skami na pphanaop 1469

Muhsin Khan : On the Day when We shall seize you with the greatest grasp. Verily, We will exact retribution.

Sahih International : The Day We will strike with the greatest assault, indeed, We will take retribution.

Pickthall : On the day when We shall seize them with the greater seizure, (then) in truth We shall punish.

Yusuf Ali : One day We shall seize you with a mighty onslaught: We will indeed (then) exact Retribution!

Shakir : On the day when We will seize (them) with the most violent seizing; surely We will inflict retribution.

Dr. Ghali : Upon the Day when We will assault you with the greatest assault; surely We will be Avengers.

Tafsir Jalalayn : Mention, the day when We shall assault with the most mighty assault — this was the day of [the battle of] Badr — [then] indeed We shall take vengeance, on them (al-batsh, means ‘to seize violently’).

44:17

Hassanor Alapa : Sbnar a tinioba ami ko onaan iran so pagtaw o Fir’aun sa miaoma siran a sogo’ a sasakawn

Muhsin Khan : And indeed We tried before them Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people, when there came to them a noble Messenger [i.e. Musa (Moses) ],

Sahih International : And We had already tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble messenger,

Pickthall : And verily We tried before them Pharaoh's folk, when there came unto them a noble messenger,

Yusuf Ali : We did, before them, try the people of Pharaoh: there came to them a messenger most honourable,

Shakir : And certainly We tried before them the people of Firon, and there came to them a noble messenger,

Dr. Ghali : And indeed already before them We tempted the people of Firaawn, (Pharaoh) and an honorable Messenger came to them. (Saying), "Discharge (Literally: give back to me) to me the bondmen of Allah; surely I am for you a trustworthy Messenger."

Tafsir Jalalayn : And certainly We tried, We tested, before them the people of Pharaoh, together with him, when a messenger came to them, namely, Moses, peace be upon him, who was honoured, before God, exalted be He,

44:18

Sahih International : [Saying], "Render to me the servants of Allah . Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger,"

Pickthall : Saying: Give up to me the slaves of Allah. Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you.

Yusuf Ali : Saying: "Restore to me the Servants of Allah: I am to you an messenger worthy of all trust;

Shakir : Saying: Deliver to me the servants of Allah, surely I am a faithful messenger to you,

Dr. Ghali : And, "Do not exalt yourselves against Allah; surely I am bringing you an evident, all-binding authority;

Tafsir Jalalayn : [saying], ‘Give over to me, what I summon you to in the way of faith, that is, manifest your faith to me, O, servants of God; indeed I am for you a messenger [who is] faithful’, in what he has been sent with,

Muhsin Khan : "And exalt not (yourselves) against Allah. Truly, I have come to you with a manifest authority.

Sahih International : And [saying], "Be not haughty with Allah . Indeed, I have come to you with clear authority.

Pickthall : And saying: Be not proud against Allah. Lo! I bring you a clear warrant.

Yusuf Ali : "And be not arrogant as against Allah: for I come to you with authority manifest.

Shakir : And that do not exalt yourselves against Allah, surely I will bring to you a clear authority:

Dr. Ghali : And surely I take refuge in my Lord and your Lord that you should (not) stone me.

Tafsir Jalalayn : and, ‘Do not rebel, [do not] try to act strong, against God, by neglecting obedience to Him. Lo! I bring you a clear warrant’, [clear] proof of [the sincerity of] my Mission — but they threatened to stone him to death.

44:20

Hassanor Alapa : Mataan a lominindong ako ko Kadnan ko ago Kadnan iyo oba ako niyo pradiama

Muhsin Khan : "And truly, I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me (or call me a sorcerer or kill me).

Sahih International : And indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me.

Pickthall : And lo! I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord lest ye stone me to death.

Yusuf Ali : "For me, I have sought safety with my Lord and your Lord, against your injuring me.

Shakir : And surely I take refuge with my Lord and your Lord that you should stone me to death:

Dr. Ghali : And in case you do not believe me, then keep apart from me!"

Tafsir Jalalayn : So he said, ‘And truly I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you should stone me, [to death] with rocks.

Muhsin Khan : "But if you believe me not, then keep away from me and leave me alone."

Sahih International : But if you do not believe me, then leave me alone."

Pickthall : And if ye put no faith in me, then let me go.

Yusuf Ali : "If ye believe me not, at least keep yourselves away from me."

Shakir : And if you do not believe in me, then leave me alone.

Dr. Ghali : So he invoked his Lord, (saying)

Tafsir Jalalayn : And if you do not believe me, then stay away from me’, [that is] then refrain from harming me — but they did not refrain from such [action].

44:22

Hassanor Alapa : Na tiawag iyan so Kadnan iyan a mataan a giankai na pagtaw a baradosa

Muhsin Khan : (But they were aggressive), so he [Musa (Moses)] called upon his Lord (saying): "These are indeed the people who are Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.)."

Sahih International : And [finally] he called to his Lord that these were a criminal people.

Pickthall : And he cried unto his Lord, (saying): These are guilty folk.

Yusuf Ali : (But they were aggressive:) then he cried to his Lord: "These are indeed a people given to sin."

Shakir : Then he called upon his Lord: These are a guilty people.

Dr. Ghali : "These are a criminal people."

Tafsir Jalalayn : So he called to his Lord, saying, ‘These are indeed a guilty, an idolatrous, lot!’

Pickthall : Then (his Lord commanded): Take away My slaves by night. Lo! ye will be followed,

Yusuf Ali : (The reply came:) "March forth with My Servants by night: for ye are sure to be pursued.

Shakir : So go forth with My servants by night; surely you will be pursued:

Dr. Ghali : "Then set forth with My bondmen by night, surely you will be closely followed.

Tafsir Jalalayn : God, exalted be He, said: ‘Then set out (read fa-asri or fa’sri) with My servants, the Children of Israel, by night; for you will assuredly be pursued, [surely] Pharaoh and his people will pursue you.

Sahih International : And leave the sea in stillness. Indeed, they are an army to be drowned."

Pickthall : And leave the sea behind at rest, for lo! they are a drowned host.

Yusuf Ali : "And leave the sea as a furrow (divided): for they are a host (destined) to be drowned."

Pickthall : Even so (it will be). And We shall wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes.

Yusuf Ali : So; and We shall join them to fair women with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes.

Shakir : Thus (shall it be), and We will wed them with Houris pure, beautiful ones.

Tafsir Jalalayn : They will call, they will request from servants, therein, that is, in Paradise, to bring, every fruit, thereof, [remaining] secure, [in their knowledge] that it will not come to an end or cause harm and [secure] from all danger (āminīna, ‘secure’, is a circumstantial qualifier’).

Pickthall : They taste not death therein, save the first death. And He hath saved them from the doom of hell,

Yusuf Ali : Nor will they there taste Death, except the first death; and He will preserve them from the Penalty of the Blazing Fire,-

Shakir : They shall not taste therein death except the first death, and He will save them from the punishment of the hell,

Dr. Ghali : They will not taste therein of death, except the first death, and He will protect them from the torment of Hell-Fire,

Tafsir Jalalayn : They will not taste death therein, other than the first death, namely, the one [that came] in this world after they had lived in it (some [scholars] think that illā, ‘other than’, here means ba‘da, ‘after’). And He will shield them from the chastisement of Hell-fire —

Tagalog : Hindi na mararanasan pa ng mga matatakutin sa Allâh sa Hardin (‘Al-Jannah ang kamatayan pagkatapos ng unang kamatayan na nangyari sa kanila sa daigdig, at ililigtas ng Allâh sila na mga matatakutin sa Allâh sa kaparusahan sa Impiyerno;

Yusuf Ali : As a Bounty from thy Lord! that will be the supreme achievement!

Shakir : A grace from your Lord; this is the great achievement.

Dr. Ghali : A Grace from your Lord; that is it which is the magnificent triumph.

Tafsir Jalalayn : a bounty from your Lord (fadlan is a verbal noun, with the sense of tafaddulan, and is in the accusative [dependent status] because of an implied [preceding] tafaddala). That is the supreme triumph.

Muhsin Khan : Certainly, We have made this (Quran) easy in your tongue, in order that they may remember.

Sahih International : And indeed, We have eased the Qur'an in your tongue that they might be reminded.

Pickthall : And We have made (this Scripture) easy in thy language only that they may heed.

Yusuf Ali : Verily, We have made this (Qur'an) easy, in thy tongue, in order that they may give heed.

Shakir : So have We made it easy in your tongue that they may be mindful.

Dr. Ghali : So We have surely made it easy by your tongue, only that possibly they would remind themselves.

Tafsir Jalalayn : For We have made it easy, We have facilitated the Qur’ān, in your tongue, in your language, so that the Arabs may understand it from you, that perhaps they may remember, [that perhaps] they may be admonished and become believers — but they do not believe.

Pickthall : Wait then (O Muhammad). Lo! they (too) are waiting.

Yusuf Ali : So wait thou and watch; for they (too) are waiting.

Shakir : Therefore wait; surely they are waiting.

Dr. Ghali : Then be on the watch; surely they (too) are on the watch.

Tafsir Jalalayn : So be on the look out, await their destruction. Indeed they [too] are on the look out, for your death — this was before the revelation of the command to struggle against them.
